The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched, shortly after returning from the parade, to assist Hockessin, station 19, Delaware on a working house fire. With the crews still in the station the Engine 2 was out the door in a hurry. Upon arrival the Engine 2 stopped at the hydrant to connect in to the lay. The crews grab tools and packs and headed to the scene. The walked up to house with fire on the B side (garage), with quick extension to the 2nd floor. The crew was instructed by command that it was to be an exterior attack and to place a 2 ½ inch line in service on side A of the building. The second crew from Engine 1 arrived and placed a line into service on side D of the building. When the fire was placed under control the Company was released and everyone returned home safely.
