The Avondale Fire Company
traveled to Community Fire Company (Station 8) of Rising Sun
in Cecil County to use their live burn trailer. The day was
a big hit with the crews doing search and rescue, fire attack
and basement evolutions. The trailer, unlike a burn building,
had adjustable walls so every time the crews went in there was
a new maze to overcome. The trailer flames are controlled by
gas so there is little time between evolutions, making many
evolutions for all. Also, because the flames are fed by gas,
a smoke machine is used to make life like conditions or it can
be turned off for training demonstrations. Community Fire Company
not only supplied us with trained personnel to operate the trailer,
but they also allowed the use of their cascade system to refill
air bottles. Although the weather was wet, crews still had a
great time and much was learned. Anybody interested in using
the trailer please call Community Fire Company at 410-658-5115.
