Car VS Mushroom Truck

On January 17th 2007 at 1804 hours Avondale Fire Company & EMS division, along with Medic 94-2 was dispatched to an auto accident with entrapment in front of 1008 Newark Road which is just North of Hillendale Road. Ambulance 23 responded and was advised by Chester County Fire Radio that one vehicle VS. a rock and one subject trapped. Deputy 23 (Cole Jr.) arrived on scene with-in one minute of dispatch to find one vehicle blocking with heavy front end damage and one subject still in the vehicle.
After further investigation Deputy 23 confirmed one trapped and established Newark Road command. It was also determined that the vehicle did not hit a rock, but rear-end a truck which fled the scene.
Command requested fire police to close Newark Road at Hillendale Road and Willow Street. Crews arriving on scene prior to the apparatus were able to force the driver's door open to access the patient. Medic 94-2 arrived and started patient care, while Ambulance 23 arrived and assisted. Command had Engine 23-1's crew set up lighting, handle hazards on the automobile, and assist EMS with patient removal and packaging. Engine 23-3 arrived and stood-by available on the scene Ambulance 23
transported one to CER with Medic 94-2. Engine crews removed debris from roadway. Company cleared incident at 1844 hours.
