Pine St. House Fire

Sunday Morning at 0458 hrs the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to a house fire on Pine St. in the Toughkenamon area of New Garden Township. Chief 23(Mike Decker) went on scene with heavy fire showing from all sides of the 2 story residential dwelling. The incident was re-dispatched as a working dwelling. Engine 23-2 was the first on scene wrapping the hydrant and laid 5 inch hose to the scene. The crew from Engine 23-2 advanced a 1 ¾ hose line to the A side of the dwelling and was advised to perform a defensive exterior attack. Engine 23-1 was at the hydrant and its crew put a 2 ½ hose line in service as well. Crews from 22, 24 and 19 also assisted in the effort to control the fire. Once the fire burned through the roof, Ladder 22 set up on the B side and placed a ladder pipe in service. Once overhaul was started, Tower 24 was called to the scene for assistance on the D side of the Dwelling. New Garden Township road crew was called in for salt due to icy conditions from water run off, but not before Ambulance 23 transported one firefighter after he slipped on the ice.
