At 0049 hrs in the early hours of Friday
morning the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to 336 Egypt
Run Road for a house fire. Chief 23 went responding and received
a report that the occupants had visible fire and were evacuating.
Chief 23 went on scene with fire showing on the first floor.
Engine 23-2 was the first to arrive on scene and it's crew quickly
deployed one 1 ¾" hand line and held the fire to
one room only. Engine 23-1’s crew performed a search of
the second floor with negative findings. Then, along with New
Castle County Station 19’s crew, 23-1's performed ventilation
operations. A small amount of overhaul was performed and lighting
was provided for the Fire Marshall's investigation. The Fire
Marshalls concluded that the fire was accidentally set by an
unattended candle. The Company went available at 0200 hrs.
