Engine 23-2 was the first to arrive on scene and it's crew quickly deployed one 1 ¾" hand line and held the fire to one room only. Engine 23-1’s crew performed a search of the second floor with negative findings. Then, along with New Castle County Station 19’s crew, 23-1's performed ventilation operations. A small amount of overhaul was performed and lighting was provided for the Fire Marshall's investigation. The Fire Marshalls concluded that the fire was accidentally set by an unattended candle.
