March

By: Junior Firefighter John Morris IV
On March 31st at 900 hours the members of the Avondale Fire Company
went to Avon Lake for in-house training. Station 24(Kennett Square)
also joined us for the morning of training. The members aligned the
apparatus along the lake and practiced drafting and utilizing the
deck gun located on top of the engine. During this time older members
eligible to drive the apparatus learned how to pump and draft water
from the lake. Two members also borrowed cold water rescue gear from
station 24 and swam around the lake. The members of AFC had a 1 ¾inch
line set up to practice fire suppression techniques. The members of
the Avondale Fire Company would like to thank London Grove Township
for the use of the lake. We would also like to thank Kennett for joining
us and allowing us to utilize their cold water rescue gear.
