The call came from an on-duty NGPD officer advising a pick-up struck a PECO pole which was split in-half, with live hanging electrical wires, they also stated that there was one person entrapped, and requested PECO to the scene ASAP.  Chief and Deputy 23 arrived on the scene moments after the dispatch and confirmed the police officers report.  Chief 23 (Swift) established the “Newark Road Command”, and requested PECO to step it up due to the very dangerous situation caused by the live hanging electrical wires.  Deputy 23 (Cole) handled “Operations”.   Engine 23-1 under the command of Asst. 23 (Testa) was to lead off with the Hurst Combo Tool and prepare to remove the driver’s door.  Past Chief Decker broke the back window out of the extended cab and Captain 23 (Lysle) accessed the passenger compartment.  While checking the victim for injuries, the victim came to and got out of the vehicle by himself.  Extrication was complete at this point.  EMS checked the patient, and the victim was taken over by NGPD.  Since there were no transportable patients EMS unit cleared the incident.  The balance of the units cleared shortly before 2:30 AM.
