Date: August 10, 2008 On Sunday, August 10, 2008 at about 1500 hours, the Avondale Fire Company along with MICU 25 (covering Medic 94) was alerted for an accident at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Thompson Road. Chief 23 (Swift) responded and arrived on scene within minutes. Prior to his arrival, Deputy 23 (Cole Jr.) was on the scene with a two vehicle accident blocking traffic with one injured. When the Chief arrived on scene, Deputy 23 advised him that one was “confined” within the vehicle. He then instructed the engine crew to use a halligan bar to “pop” the driver side door of the vehicle. Just after that, MICU 25 arrived on the scene and checked out their patient. After the “confined” patient was extricated from the vehicle they requested transport to the hospital for treatment of neck an back pain. This alerted New Castle County A-19 for the second due BLS unit. Upon arrival, they transported their patient to Jennersville Regional Hospital (JRH). MICU 25 received sign-offs, and all units cleared the scene at about 1545 hours.
