Engine and Tanker Assist to Oxford

At approximately 0530 hours on 01/26/08 the Company was dispatched for Tanker 23 as part of a First Alarm Tanker Task Force to assist the Union Fire Company of Oxford Station 21 on a working barn fire on King's Row Road in Elk Township. A tanker task force consists of multiple tankers to supply water where there are no hydrants. Approximately 3 minutes later the company was dispatched for an engine to standby for a helicopter landing at the fire scene to transport a burn victim to the hospital. Engine 23-3 responded soon after. Once at the scene, the Tanker and Engine crews assisted with water supply, fire suppression, and scene overhaul. Special thanks to the Union Fire Company Auxiliary for the hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches. All Avondale units cleared the scene at 0930 hours.
