Date: December 07, 2008 On Sunday December 7th 2008 at 1551 hours the Avondale Fire Company along with Stations 21 (Oxford), 22 (West Grove), 27 (Cochranville),and 53 (Fame), were called to assist Station 25 (Longwood) with a First Alarm Tanker Task Force on a working barn fire. Moments later Tanker 23, and Engine 23-2 responded with full crews. Upon arrival of Engine 24-1 the command requested that Deputy 24 (Mitchell) handle the water supply, and had advised Tanker 23 to dump their load into Tanker 22’s Port-a-Tank where Engine 23-2 pulled a draft and supplied Tanker 36 through about 500’ of 5” LDH. After Tanker 23’s drop off driver Sam Ianni shuttled five loads of water from a nearby hydrant back to the Port-A-Tank. After a change in the drafting from Engine 23-2 to Engine 21-2 Engine 23-2 was used to shuttled three loads of water from the fill site back to the Port-a-Tank at the dump site. The crew from 23-2 then joined the manpower pool and was soon utilized to perform "overhaul" to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
