Two Car Fires in Avondale's First Due Date: August 16, 2008 On Saturday, August 16, at 2112 hours the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched for a car fire at 4th Street and Morris Street in the borough. Engine 23-2 responded shortly after dispatch. Upon arrival Assistant 23 (Testa) was on the scene with an automobile fully involved. Engine 23-2 arrived on scene with a full crew of 5, and quickly extinguished the car with an inch and ¾ hand line. PSP-A arrived on scene shortly after the fire was extinguished and investigated. All 23 units cleared the scene at 2133 hours. 2ND CAR FIRE OF THE NIGHT On Saturday, August 16, at 2206 hours the company was alerted for the second car fire of the night in the Hartfeld Development. Past Chief Decker arrived on scene followed by Engine 23-2. The fire was reported out upon arrival. The OIC of Engine 23-2 (Safety 23 Bessicks) requested the Fire Marshall’s to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The engine crew waited for the FM’s to arrive to start their investigation and all units cleared the scene at 2250 hours. Units: Eng 23-2, Amb 23-2
