On Monday, April 19, 2008 Station 23 opened their bay doors to the Pennsylvania State Police of Avondale. The officers were holding a car seat check for area residents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 72 percent of car seats are used improperly. The officers were showing parents how to properly install and maintain their child's car seat. They were also looking for car seats with defects and other problems that would make them unsafe for children to ride in. The car seat check was a great success with lots of residents attending.
