Career Staff EMT Nikki Testa Returns From
Fighting California Wild Fires

Date: July 26, 2008
By: Firefighter John Morris IV

Career Staff member Nikki Testa returned home Tuesday after a 17 day assignment in California. Her and a crew of 20 members of the Delaware Interagency Fire Crew were assigned to the Iron Complex in Junction City, California. Once they arrived they were assigned to a firing group where they performed burning operations. "Burn outs" are performed ahead of the fire to reduce fuels causing the fire to stall or come to a stop. The crew not only battled the fire but battled steep rocky terrain and endless amounts of poison oak. The officers and members of the Avondale Fire Company would like to congratulate Nikki on a safe successful trip.

*Thanks to Nikki for the AWESOME pictures!*
