Date: September 20th, 2008
By: Mascot Joey Swift

On Wednesday September 10th, 2008 and Wednesday September 17th, 2008, the members of the Avondale Fire Company along with members from West Grove Fire Company completed the classroom portions of live burn training.   On September 20th, 2008 the 17 firefighters traveled to Montgomery County Fire Academy to complete the practical portion of the training.  During the classroom training members learned about firefighter safety, fire attack methods, search and rescue, hose lays, accountability, and SCBA(self contained breathing apparatus). During the practical training the firefighters completed three different evolutions of live burn training. These live fire exercises consisted of first floor and second floor fire attacks, along with a basement fire scenario.

While the senior firefighters were doing their evolutions, an instructor spent time with the mascot and junior members showing them through the confined space trailer and the smoke house to practice search and rescue techniques.

**Special thanks to Montgomery County Fire Academy and their instructors for putting on an awesome class**

**Members would also like to thank Station 28 (Parkesburg) for covering our local and assisting us with placing our apparatus back in service after the event**
