Accident with Entrapment on Penn Green Rd.

On October 27th, 2009 at 1533 hours the Avondale Fire Company was alerted to an auto accident in at Penn Green Road south of Route 41. Minutes after dispatch Ambulance 23-1 arrived on scene and upgraded the incident to an accident with entrapment which added Medic 94-1 and 2, and West Grove for Rescue 22. Moments after the upgrade Chief 23, Engine 23-3, Squad 23, and Traffic 23 went enroute. When Chief 23 (Swift) arrived on-scene he assumed Penn Green Road command and held the response to Avondale units, and Medic 94-2. When Engine 23-3 arrived on scene there orders were to do a “Door Pop”, and Squad 23’s orders were to stabilize the vehicle. Extrication was complete within 8 minutes of Engine 23-3’s arrival. Ambulance 23-1 transported one patient to Christiana Hospital, and the company was available at 1614 hours.
