Company assists Hockessin with House Fire

On January 31, 2010 at approximately 00:27 hours, the Avondale fire company was dispatched for a single Engine assist to Hockessin, Delaware Station 19 for a dwelling. Approximately thirty seconds later another dispatched was recieved requesting a tanker due on the assignment. We were shortly recalled after the second dispatch.
At 10:04 hours that same morning, the company was dispatched for a single engine assist to Station 19 for a house fire. Minutes after dispatch Engine 23-2 responded with a full crew and arrived on scene with heavy smoke conditions and fire from the garage. Engine 19-5 and Tanker 19 were first on scene with a crew to the interior first and second floors while Assistant 23 took interior command. Engine 23-2 Arrived on scene and went directly to the "B" side where there was heavy fire conditions from the attached garage. Two vehicles inside the garage and the partially attached garage door made it difficult for crews to work around.
