Date: May 28, 2010
By: Firefighter Tim McDonnell

In the early morning hours of May 28, 2010 just after midnight, Station 24 (Kennett) was dispatched for an investigation in the area of the NVF corporation at 400 W. Mulberry street. After the initial investigation dispatch, the call was upgraded to a working building which re-alerted Station 24, and added Station 25 for two Engines and ladder (Longwood), and Station 23 for an Engine. Soon after dispatch, Engine 23-2 went enroute with a full crew with orders to lay supply line from the hydrant at Washington Street past the WaWa food market and cut the gate to gain access to the rear of the building. With all of the supply line laid from Engine 23-2 and Rescue 23, Tanker 23 picked up water supply at the hydrant where the line was orginally laid to supply water to crews around the rear of the building. Crews were release just before 0400.
