Date: May 26, 2010 On Wednesday May 26, 2010 the Avondale Fire Company traveled to Blittersdorf Towing and Salvage for training on our new Rescue. Crews practiced with tools like Air Bags, Cribbing, High Lift Jacks, Rescue Struts, and used the Hurst Tool (Jaws of Life). The crews worked on one car which was flipped upside down to remove a patient if they were trapped under it. Next we raised the car higher to get our new members some time with the Jaws of Life and cutting the roof off. Members refreshed their skills on how to “pop” a door off, cut the A, B, and C posts of a car, how to use a glass master, set up and use rescue struts and high lift jacks, and how to stabilize a car. The Avondale Fire Company would like to thank Blittersdorf Towing and Salvage for providing the car.
